Purpose: Design and build a fully automated system to produce four models a connector used to connect standard pharmaceutical vials that allows for a simple method of reconstituting and diluting pharmaceutical drugs for intravenous delivery. The system used existing similar designs and processes already proven on previously built machines.
System Description: Feed and Load Spike to fixture. Then feed and install Cannula to Spike. Apply UV Adhesive & UV Pre-Cure. Next are UV Cure #1 and UV Cure #2, followed by inspection of UV Cure. Silicone is applied to the Cannula Tip. The Top Cap is feed and loaded followed by the feeding and installing of the Retainer to Top Cap. A Flip and Transfer of Spike/Cannula into Retainer/Cap and then Ultrasonic Weld Spike to Retainer. Silicone is applied to Spike I.D. The Plunger is feed and installed to the Spike. Seat and Check Plunger and apply Silicone to Spike O.D. Feed and Install Bottom Cap to Top Cap. Ultrasonic Weld Bottom Cap to Top Cap. Lastly, unload all.
